Calling all community leaders and event organizers!

2/4/2021

Friends - a local community leader and clergy person is trying to make plans and gather support for a possible event this October/November. Here is his message below, and please feel free to reach out to us, or him, if you have any interest to help out in any way!

---

All,

Just received a call from Tami, the original director and founder of Abundance, NC. She relayed that she is too interested in helping host a pagan event in October/November time frame pending the pandemic and where we stand then as far as being able to meet publically in a group safely. Their facilities are an ideal set up for what we would need to support such an event.
I have also reached out to some entertainers as well with excellent feedback. She has invited me to walk the property to talk in more detail about what I envision and more of the nuts and bolts regarding the preparation plans. What I'm asking again is for folks interested in volunteering to help with this process. More heads in the game make for a better and hopefully establish an ongoing annual event for the pagan community. Now, I'm also a realist and do not expect a massive attendance for the first event, but I do feel that it will be built on each year as the event moves forward. I do hope to hear from members of the pagan community here in the Raleigh Area.
You can contact me via wsmentornyx@gmail.com if you wish to voice your ideas privately; otherwise, please respond via Facebook.
Respectfully
Rev. Calvin

Please be sure to follow the Facebook event for updates, announcements, and information!  https://www.facebook.com/events/722321211736268 www.facebook.com/events/722321211736268

Sunday, December 20, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Join Durhamites Kat and Michael in a socially-distanced Yule ritual by the fire. This ritual will be conducted via a closed Zoom meeting. Invitation information will be posted to the Facebook event the afternoon of the ritual.

Attendees will be welcomed - but NOT required! - to do any or all of the following:

- bring a favorite holiday treat as an emblem of comfort in the Night Months
- volunteer to call one of the quarters in establishing a virtual circle
- share something they wish to let go of as the year closes
- share something they wish to nurture and encourage in the coming new year
- spend a few minutes in open, casual discussion by the hearth (be it real or envisioned) about what we think magic might be and how you find it, increase it, or direct it in your own life.

This ritual will conclude with a virtual sunrise to thank attendees for their dedication (and because waiting all night on a Zoom call would be the opposite of joy)!

Michael will also live stream Durham-local sunrise the following morning to share the return of the Sun with anyone who cares to join him!

Please message us via Facebook or at TriangleAreaPagans@gmail.com for any questions!

Blessed Solstice, Friends!

Triangle Pagan Retreat/Meeting

2/10/2019

Picture
Dear Friends,

Five years ago last autumn, the three of us hosted a visioning retreat to help us understand how we could be of greater service to the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill pagan community – how, in fact, all of us in the community could be of greater service to each other. That retreat gave birth to the Triangle Area Pagan Alliance, an open, public network of pagan groups and solitary practitioners who are passionate about supporting one another on our spiritual journeys and deepening our connections to one another in a locally centered, face-to-face context.

During those five years, TAPA has been an ever-evolving experiment, an environment where we could develop traditions and try new things. We have led Fourth of July rituals and the main ritual at Pagan Pride, presented a year-long workshop series showcasing the expertise of community members, and hosted large-scale social events like our Harvest Moon Festival and the Fools and Fairies Ball. We have partnered with individual groups to present collaborative events like the Hasaeti oracular sessions, Fortunalia, and an annual community winter holiday party. We keep a website, a Facebook, and a Meetup group that keep people informed about community happenings, hosted an information booth every year at Pagan Pride weekend, and see many of you every month at our first Wednesday meet-and-greets. We truly believe TAPA has been what we wanted it to be – a resource for pagans who are looking for ways to have more and better community in their lives. We have been blessed with a great welcome from the community and are always touched to hear how valued TAPA has become as a Triangle-wide institution in only five years.

But the TAPA steering committee is only three people, and the three of us can only, at the end of the day, speak authoritatively about our own needs. In order to plan the next five years of TAPA, we want to know more about the needs of the broadest possible segment of the community – as well as what kinds of gifts and talents the community has available to help support TAPA's work.

Time for another retreat! We will hold a day-long event on Saturday, April 27, where we'll celebrate our successes, identify ongoing areas of need, and make some decisions about where TAPA will be devoting attention and resources over the next few years. This is your chance to collaborate in crafting the future of TAPA.

Everyone is welcome, whether you are a long-time TAPA volunteer, have only been attending occasional events, or are completely new and unknown to us. TAPA has never been an organization with “membership” – we try to make ourselves equally available for the concerns and interests of brand-new friends and those we know well. Whether you think of yourself as a “community leader” or not, whether you consider yourself a “friend of TAPA” or not, you are welcome to this event. We want to hear as many voices as we can.

In order to make sure we can find a site that accommodates the size of the group, we need to know early on who will be able to attend, so we are asking people to RSVP via email for this event by February 28, at which point we will close attendance. We would hate to exclude people who want to be at this event, so please get your name on the list as soon as possible. Don't let time slip away from you!

We are grateful for the overwhelming positivity and support we have received from this community. You have expanded our horizons, as we hope we have expanded yours, and we can't wait to learn what's in store for TAPA next.

Your steering committee, aka, The TAPA Ladies,
Alisa, Amanda, and Heather

Fortune Favors the Bold!

Fortunalia! – an event to celebrate luck, prosperity, and plenty

ALL are welcome! - ritual, games of chance, prizes cocktails, conversation, live DJ, tarot card readings, costumes, magic

facilitated by Bull Moon Hearth
sponsored by the Triangle Area Pagan Alliance

Saturday, June 23
Arcana, Durham http://arcanadurham.com/
Arcana's doors open at 5pm
introductions at 6pm, ritual at 630, and games of chance following
9pm - tarot readings with Ophidian Tarot, as well as super special guest DJ- Emmett Davenport from the Clockwork Cabaret - THE most popular steampunk podcast in this time/space! Please join us for live DJ, conversation, and cocktails
Arcana, Durham http://arcanadurham.com/

In the brightest days of summer, with the promise of abundance around us, we look forward to all the good things Fortune can bring. Come celebrate with ritual, games of chance, and some good-luck magic on the festival of Fors Fortuna - she who brings luck, prosperity and plenty!

Sponsored by the Triangle Area Pagan Alliance, Bull Moon Hearth presents their annual Fortunalia, designed to honor Fors Fortuna (“She Who Brings”) for her traditional festival. We’ll make offerings to Fortuna and other patrons of good luck, then ask their blessings on us. In keeping with traditional festivities, we’ll also have games of chance - with the opportunity to win prizes! We’ll wrap up our work with knot magic designed to bind up some of our good luck and carry it home, to be released throughout the year, whenever we need it most. Then, we celebrate!

We’ll gather at 6pm for greetings, a pre-ritual briefing, and a discussion of Fortuna. Ritual and games of chance following. After the festivities, join us for conversation, cocktails, and music from a live DJ.

Presented in a style of Roman polytheism, the ritual is based in the tradition of ADF Druidry. However, it’s intended for people of all traditions and paths, and all are welcome. The ritual will include opportunities for participants to make offerings to other supportive Ancestors, Spirits, or Deities if they choose, as well as a chance to make their own, personal offerings to Fortuna. Some offerings will be provided, or participants can bring their own.

It’s Fortunalia, so indulge in the festivities! This is your chance to dress up in your favorite Roman-inspired garb and attire – bring out your laurels and your glitter and your gold, your costumes that make you think of solar flares and Roman Bacchanals, or majestic robes and headpieces. (That is to say, costumes/garb encouraged but not at all required.)

$5-$10 suggested donation. Tokens will be provided for the games of chance, but please bring cash to purchase additional tokens. If you would like to donate to TAPA or sponsor this event, thank you so much for your support and please message us so we can coordinate with you. Also, tip your bartenders generously. Arcana has taken good care of us for many years and we love them.

SHOW YOURSELF OFF – bring your business cards, brochures, fliers, etc.  If you are part of a local group or organization, a local Pagan business person, artisan, or just a general awesome person, we’d love to learn more!  Please bring any fliers or other goodies to leave on our information table so people can learn more about you/your group/your business!

MEDITATION ROOM – open throughout the event, come and go as you please.  A quiet space set aside for meditation and contemplation.  Take a moment to enjoy the magic of the season!

ALTAR – Together we will all build a beautiful, community altar to create holy space throughout the evening.  You are invited to bring your favorite seasonal items and altar decorations.  Offerings will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own as well.

GIFT EXCHANGE – If you are interested in participating in a gift exchange, please bring one or two wrapped, gently used Pagan items to pass onto someone else in the community.  NO GAG GIFTS.  NO NEW GIFTS.

Please share this event far and wide – repost on FB, add to your forums, yahoo groups, share with your friends and family.  ALL are welcome!  There will be no child-specific activities, but children and families are welcome.  You do not need to be a Pagan to attend this event – just be a friendly person who would like to gathers in the spirit of community.
